Recycle Rush: Your Game!
Put it all together in a recycling game.
Recycle Rush: Your Game! ♻️
You know events, motion, loops, costumes, sounds, if and variables. That's everything you need to make a real game!
The game
Trash falls from the sky. Catch it in the recycling bin to clean up the park! 🌳
Sprites you need: a bin (paint a green box with ♻️), a can or bottle, and a park backdrop.
The bin (moves with arrow keys)
when flag clicked
go to x: (0) y: (-140)
forever
if <key (right arrow v) pressed?> then
change x by (10)
end
if <key (left arrow v) pressed?> then
change x by (-10)
end
endThe bottle (falls and gets caught)
when flag clicked
set [score v] to (0)
forever
go to x: (pick random (-200) to (200)) y: (170)
repeat until <<touching (Bin v)?> or <(y position) < (-170)>>
change y by (-6)
end
if <touching (Bin v)?> then
change [score v] by (1)
start sound (Pop v)
end
endWin the game! 🏆
when flag clicked wait until <(score) = (10)> say [The park is clean! You win!] for (3) seconds stop [all v]
🛠️ Your checklist
- The bin moves with the arrow keys
- Bottles fall from random places
- Catching one adds a point and pops
- Reaching 10 points wins
⭐ Make it yours: add a second falling item, change the speed, or draw your own park!
🎉 You did it!
You made a real game in Scratch. That's what game designers do!
Want to keep creating? In our live Scratch classes, kids build bigger games and stories with a teacher, and unlock Hat Quest levels to earn their hats. 🎩 See how kids earn hats →
Build it in Scratch!
Open Scratch in a new tab, find the blocks shown above (they're the same colors!), snap them together and click the green flag. Then try the challenge ideas in the lesson.
Open Scratch ↗Scratch is free and made by MIT for kids. You can build without an account. To keep a project, ask a grown-up to help you sign in, or use File → Save to your computer.
